I made this pant suit to wear to my office job in 1960/ my cousin Lucy’s wedding. The fabric is from Japan and has a teeny bit of stretch in it, which is very helpful since they are so tight! I actually wanted to use feathers at the hem but it has come to my attention that feathers are not so cool anymore when you think about where they come from. I don’t know a whole lot about it but from what I’ve read I’m assuming it’s kind of like the fur trade (get at me if anyone has more info??). So anyway, I used faux fur instead which I think actually works better in this instance.

The wedding was a super fun party and a nice chance to catch up with the whole family (mad, the lot of them!). I was thinking today that when you’re growing up, you see the world as it is introduced to you by your family (I just watched ‘tell me who I am’ K). I am really thankful that my family has always been exciting and entertaining, and my world full of lots of people & shiny things. There are so many larger-than-life characters and stranger-than-fiction storylines in this family that it is never boring.

“But I don’t want to go among mad people,” Alice remarked.

“Oh, you can’t help that,” said the Cat: “we’re all mad here. I’m mad. You’re mad.”

“How do you know I’m mad?” said Alice.

“You must be,” said the Cat, “or you wouldn’t have come here.”
